Don’t Get Invested in Not-Doing

Sometimes you know how to do something, you know that something should be done, and for whatever reason you don’t do it.

The challenge is not becoming invested in the not-doing. It’s easy to become stuck behind the regret or embarrassment of not having done the thing in the first place. “If you were able to do this? Why didn’t you do it last week/month/year when we first needed it?” someone might say to you. Now you look like a big jerk, a hold-out, or a fool.

Yet its truly more foolish or jerkish to persist in not offering what you have to offer. In fact there is usually far more payoff in taking your knocks and contributing what you missed, than maintaining your deception.

If you know better. Make a commitment to doing better.
