How to Build Rapport but Not Connection

Open the door for others to share but keep your door closed.
Being a good listener is a profound skill and so many are hungry to share and be heard. You can easily be the one with whom everyone shares their secrets and in that cloak you can stay hidden.

Love outward but not inward.
If you focus your time on spreading the love perhaps you can forget how you feel neglected. If you don’t send love in, it’s much harder for others to find the way.

Connect for their benefit but not your own.
By being helpful to everyone around you, you can make sure there’s never room for them to help you. Sharing your needs with others is a powerful way to create true connection – avoid that.

Be inviting but not vulnerable.
To avoid real friendship be as friendly as possible. Be a social butterfly, invite everyone around you, and you’ll never be in anyone’s presence long enough for them to pin you down.

Share your compassion but not your heart.
If you are loving, you will have the love of others. If you never truly offer yourself, you’ll never know that their love can extend as deeply as you do.
