What are you avoiding doing right now? So often we shy away from our biggest blocks and challenges even when we know that energy in those places could make a significant and positive impact in our lives. I suggest you make an avoidance list:
1. Document all the things you are currently wrestling with. What things most cause you to procrastinate? What things do you shove away when you think about them? What things trigger you the most? What things do you feel are defeating you?
2. Make an alternatives column. If this block was resolved what would it or your life look like? If you had the skills to meet this challenge, how would the challenge look, how would you feel about it?
3. Prioritize. Put the hardest challenges on top and order the list from there.
4. Make a plan column. Take your top 3 and make a concrete plan for moving toward what you’re avoiding. The most important step is the first step.
5. Put your list on your weekly rhythm. Schedule a time to review and update your list and check in on your plans. Sometimes even the simple act of keeping regular and mindful awareness of your blocks and challenges can help you begin the process of overcoming them.
