Moving Toward Things That Scare You

This is a mantra of mine right now. “I move toward things that scare me.” it has been pretty powerful. It doesn’t mean I leap into things that are way over my head. Just that I ask myself to always step closer.

When I find myself shying away from talking to someone, maybe I ask them for the time. I don’t need to get their life story. If I have an opportunity to perform, maybe I’ll take it. If I’m at a party and I want to meet people, maybe I’ll help bartend. If I see a summit I want to climb but fear the danger, maybe I’ll climb half way.

Any movement toward something affirms self-belief, especially if you honour those moves.

Powerful transformation can come even with small steps.
