Who Are Your People?

My people share with me on the deepest levels. They share their fears and sorrows, their funny stories and foibles, their biggest failures and their biggest joys.

My people know me and are known to me. They see me through all my bullshit and love me anyway. Even when I try to hold them out, there is little I can do, because they are already in.

My people are unconditional but not irresponsible. They help me be my best self by giving me unlimited room to screw up yet look after themselves so well they don’t enable my worst parts.

My people act with integrity. Their thoughts, words, and deeds align. They stand up not only for themselves but those that share their values.

My people take responsibility for themselves. They fail as much as you or I, perhaps more, but they always take responsibility for their failures in a way that allows them to grow and prosper.

My people meet me strongly and wholly. They are full and complete within themselves yet recognize how important it is to depend and be depended upon, to need and be needed.

My people are mature but not serious.

My people have dreams and are not afraid to dream them.

My people are not perfect. They strive to be their best selves and look for others who do the same.
Who do I want to surround myself with? I want to fill my life with people who help me be my best self. The angels of my better nature. I don’t need to find perfection in these people, that’s not the nature I’m striving for but I do seek others who strive.
